Edamanal Sri Kasi Viswanathaswamy with vishesha alankaram
Edamanal Sri Kasi Viswanathaswamy temple is situated in the fertile land between Kaveri and Kollidam rivers in Tamil Nadu, 5 km west of the coast of Bay of Bengal and 8 km east of Sirkazhi.
The temple complex comprises sannidhis for Edamanal Sri Kasi Viswanathaswamy, Kasi Visalakshi Amman, Kattamudu Vinayakar, Subrahmanyar with Valli and Devasena, Kanni Moolai Ganapathy, Anjaneyar, Gajalakshmi, Saraswathi, Chandikeshwarar, Navagrahams, Ashta Bhuja Kali, Bhairavar, Suryan, Chandran, and Sundaramurthy Swamigal.
The Shiva Sannidhi faces the village cremation ground located across the Melappalayam Road at a distance. This unique feature of this location is lauded by experts as being particularly appropriate for Lord Shiva. It is an especially noteworthy similarity to the original Kasi Viswanathaswamy of Varanasi, Who overlooks the burning ghats on the western bank of the sacred Ganga. The Kanchi Maha Periyaval’s pronouncement on naming this deity as Sri Kasi Viswanathaswamy thus acquires even more special significance.
The divine significance and the circumstances leading up to the construction of this temple complex are explained in the section titled history of the temple. With generous contributions of patrons from all over the world, the Kumbhabhishekam for the temple was performed on May 31, 2012 on a grand scale. Daily pujas for all the deities are performed and darshan and prasadam for devotees are provided since then.
With continued participation of the villagers and patronage of various donors and well-wishers, regular two kala pujas and several special pujas on auspicious occasions and festival days are conducted at the temple.
The Trust seeks continued patronage of donors/well-wishers/prospective donors for augmenting the required corpus. The corpus will help sustain the ongoing activities as well as expand the services on the welfare front as part of the objective of the Trust newly registered in March 2014.
